Sydney Sweeney basks in the sunshine in style.
The 27-year-old actress showcased her fit and toned figure while enjoying the serene views of her lavish $13 million waterfront estate in the Florida Keys on Wednesday.
Dressed in a chic purple two-piece bikini, Sweeney completed the effortlessly glamorous look with sleek black sunglasses. Her signature blonde locks were casually styled in a messy bun, adding to her relaxed and radiant vibe.
The “Euphoria” star was captured enjoying a laid-back moment outside her luxurious home, lounging on a towel draped over a chair, and taking a refreshing dip in the pool.
Sweeney recently completed filming her upcoming biopic on legendary athlete Christy Martin, in which she portrays the International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee. The film is directed by David Michôd.
Just a month prior, the “Anyone But You” star opened up about her experiences in Hollywood, expressing frustration with the industry’s tendency to tear down women instead of lifting them up.
“It’s incredibly disheartening to witness women tearing each other down,” Sweeney shared in an interview with Vanity Fair published on Nov. 13. “It’s especially disappointing when successful women in the industry target younger talent who are working tirelessly to chase their dreams, only to try and discredit or diminish the work they’ve accomplished.”
The “Madame Web” star also pointed out the hypocrisy she has observed within the industry, where actions often contradict the messages being preached.
“This entire industry is filled with people preaching ‘women empowering women,’ but none of it is genuine,” Sweeney continued. “It’s all just a facade, masking the backstabbing and negativity that happens behind closed doors.”
When it comes to the false narrative of women’s empowerment, Sweeney has her own theories about its origins.
“There are so many studies and opinions on where this mindset comes from,” Sweeney explained to Vanity Fair. “I’ve read that, for generations, we’ve been conditioned to believe that only one woman can sit at the top. There’s one woman who gets the man, one woman who can succeed, one woman who can be anything. And because of that, others feel like they have to compete, fight, or tear that woman down instead of lifting each other up.”
While the actress admits she’s “still trying to figure it out,” she remains focused on doing her best amid the challenges.
“Why am I being attacked?” Sweeney asked, reflecting on her personal experiences with criticism.
In April, veteran Hollywood producer and professor Carol Baum sparked controversy with her comments about Sydney Sweeney during a screening of her 1988 film Dead Ringers.
“There’s an actress everyone seems to love right now: Sydney Sweeney. I don’t understand Sydney Sweeney,” Baum remarked. “I even asked my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so popular?’ But no one could give me an answer.”
“But then someone asked, ‘If you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?’” Baum reflected. “That’s a very difficult question to answer because we all want to see our projects come to life. And honestly, who turns down a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.”
Baum also criticized Sweeney and Glen Powell’s rom-com Anyone But You, calling it an “unwatchable movie.”
Following Baum’s harsh remarks, a representative for Sweeney responded, condemning the comments.
“How unfortunate that a woman in a position to share her expertise and empower others chooses instead to tear down another woman,” the representative told People in a statement. “If this is the lesson she’s passing on after decades in the industry, it’s truly shameful.”
The rep added, “To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”
