In September, Kidman cut short her Venice Film Festival appearance upon learning of her mother’s death at the age of 84. Reflecting on her loss, she shared a heartfelt statement read by director Halina Reijn: “Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed. I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me, and she made me.”

Kidman later opened up about the emotional toll of her mother’s passing during the red carpet premiere of “Lioness” Season 2, admitting, “It’s been hard.

It’s a hard road. I’m hanging in there.” In an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning,” she shared her mother’s poignant final words: “The final words my mama said, which I didn’t know were gonna be the final words … I was going to get on a plane and go back to see her.

And she was like, ‘Maybe wait a minute because I think you just need to take care of yourself right now, Nicky.’”

The serene beach outing offered a moment of respite for Kidman and her family during a challenging year.

Despite the sorrow, the actress appears to be finding solace in family time and the comforting embrace of her home country.
